ITOCHU Corp. is a globally integrated Japanese trading company. It is one of the world's largest corporations, with 15 offices in Japan and 133 overseas offices. The firm has seven division companies which operate approximately 110 domestic and 70 overseas subsidiaries and associates. The Textile division markets raw materials for textile fabrics and garments; manufactures men's and women's casual wear, underwear, uniforms and sportswear; provides commodity materials for industrial applications; and owns the Japanese trademark rights for Converse-branded apparel, accessories and shoes. The ICT, Aerospace & Electronics division is involved in digital media; broadcasting and communications; content development; aircraft and defense equipment; semiconductor equipment; mobile phone equipment and service; and venture business process outsourcing services and other IT solutions services. The Chemicals, Forest Products & General Merchandise division provides industrial and consumer goods spanning building materials, pulp, tires, ceramics materials, footwear, chemicals, electronic materials and pharmaceuticals. The Finance, Realty, Insurance & Logistics Services division offers real estate development, insurance brokerage, risk solutions, financial services and logistics solutions. The Machinery division provides equipment for power plants, ships, automobiles, construction equipment and many other fields. The Energy, Metals & Minerals division trades, mines and/or produces basic materials made from iron, aluminum, coal, petroleum and nuclear fuels. The Food division handles all aspects of food production, from foodstuffs procurement through processing, distribution and retail, and deals in grains, ingredients for animal feed, oilseed, vegetable oil, sugar, fruit juice, coffee beans and livestock products. During 2009, ITOCHU acquired interest in a number of companies, including Descente Ltd.; Java Holdings Co., Ltd.; NTT Plala Inc.; MARUKO Co., Ltd.; and Hangzhou New Huahai Business & Trading Co., Ltd. In early 2010, the company acquired a capital stake in Affle Holdings Pte. Ltd. and agreed to acquire 15% of Kalahari Minerals plc.
