ITOCHU Corp. is a globally integrated Japanese trading company. It is one of the world's largest corporations, with 17 offices in Japan and 139 overseas offices. The firm has seven division companies which operate 276 domestic and 212 overseas subsidiaries and associates. The Textile division develops over 100 brands, including owning the Japanese trademark rights for Converse-branded apparel, accessories and shoes. It designs, produces, delivers and sells apparel for other companies, and has a large share of the Japanese uniform and materials business. The Aerospace, Electronics & Multimedia division is involved in satellite TV broadcasting; content development; aircraft and defense manufacturing; aircraft leasing; mobile phone service; and security, communications, broadcasting, mobile phone and semiconductor equipment. The Chemicals, Forest Products & General Merchandise division has operations spanning tire manufacturing, packaging materials product, managing agricultural supermarkets, running plantations and mining rare metals. The Finance, Realty, Insurance & Logistics Services division offers foreign exchange trading, construction services and international air and ocean freight distribution. The Machinery division provides equipment for power plants, resource development, civil engineering, agriculture and many other fields. The Energy, Metals & Minerals division trades, mines and/or produces basic materials made from iron, coal, petroleum and nuclear fuels. The Food division handles all aspects of food production, from raw goods to finished products, and deals in grains, produce, dairy, meat, sweeteners, frozen foods, pet food, canned goods, liquor and oils; it also offers consultations. In November 2008, the firm acquired the Medium Density Fiberboard plant from Carter Holt Harvey Limited and consequently established a joint business with Daiken Corporation called Daiken New Zealand Limited. In December of the same year, the company agreed to invest in the Greek photovoltaic power system integrator, Enolia Solar Systems SA, through subsidiary, ITOCHU Europe PLC. ITOCHU will receive a 40% stake in Enolia Solar, through this investment.
